PAST NEWS:
SPECIAL NEEDS SERVE 2008 July 7-12, 2008. This was the third year City on a Hill Ministries housed the week-long special needs camp. The empty patient rooms served as lodging space, the conference room held their large group teaching and worship gatherings and the Cafe was ... well, the Cafe! Partnering with the ministries to support and enhance their events is part of our mission here at City on a Hill.
The week was filled with fun and service to the community of Holland and Zeeland for teens and young adults with disabilities. This year there were 33 participants with 33 mentions and a large staff of volunteers. The campers were between the ages of 14 and 26 and came from all over the Midwest and Canada.
Each day started with devotions and breakfast on site and then the kids went out to work sites at several different local community organizations and ministries. They also worked right here at City on a Hill. (Check out the beautiful landscaping.) Also included in their days were a variety of recreational outings and events. Their day ended with everyone back together for a time of worship and praise and eventually lights out.
At the end of the week, the kids gathered with their parents for their closing worship time and lunch together and after final goodbyes were said, everyone headed back home, equipped and encouraged to continue to SERVE God wherever they are.
